Hypnosis is a natural state of consciousness that we all experience on a daily basis. Being totally absorbed in a book or movie, missing your off-ramp while driving on the freeway, and the drowsy feeling experienced immediately before going to sleep and upon awakening are examples of hypnotic states. During these periods our subconscious mind is very receptive to suggestions coming from ourselves or others. Through therapeutic hypnosis, you can modify beliefs that no longer serve you.
Will I still be in control?
Yes! Hypnosis cannot cause you to do anything against your free will or ethics. You are not asleep or unconscious during the hypnosis session. In fact, your mind is very alert and aware of all that is happening around you. You will actually have more focus and control! Many describe the hypnotic state as a complete and total escape from physical tension and emotional stress, while remaining completely alert.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is simply using the powerful effect of hypnosis in a safe environment to empower you, change habits, and achieve your goals. We will first discuss these goals and desires and together we will agree on a plan. Then during hypnosis, I will work with you in guiding the subconscious mind to support these positive changes.
How many sessions will it take?
The number of necessary sessions varies between individuals and the nature of the therapy. This will be discussed during the first session as we work together to design a plan based on your individual needs. Hypnotherapy is usually considered short-term therapy because it is able to modify behavior without having to go through years of self-exploration and "insight". However, many clients continue to come in week after week because they become inspired by the positive changes in their lives .
